O ortopedista era torcedor do clube e vestia a camisa do Peixe na hora do crime. Ele e outros dois colegas foram mortos a tiros em um quiosque na praia da Barra da Tijuca, Zona Oeste carioca.</p>
<p class="texto">"O Santos FC lamenta o falecimento de Diego Bomfim, santista apaixonado (…) assassinado na madrugada desta quinta-feira, em um quiosque da Barra da Tijuca, no Rio de Janeiro. Diego estava com o nosso Manto Sagrado durante o trágico momento. O Clube lamenta, também, o falecimento de Marcos Corsato e Perseu Ribeiro Almeida e deseja uma pronta recuperação a Daniel Sonnewend Proença, que também foi ferido, mas foi levado ao hospital e se encontra em estado estável. O Santos emitiu uma nota de pesar pelo assassinato do médico Diego Bonfim , nesta quinta-feira (5/10), no Rio de Janeiro. O ortopedista era torcedor do clube e vestia a camisa do Peixe na hora do crime. Ele e outros dois colegas foram mortos a tiros em um quiosque na praia da Barra da Tijuca, Zona Oeste carioca.
"O Santos FC lamenta o falecimento de Diego Bomfim, santista apaixonado (…) assassinado na madrugada desta quinta-feira, em um quiosque da Barra da Tijuca, no Rio de Janeiro. Diego estava com o nosso Manto Sagrado durante o trágico momento. O Clube lamenta, também, o falecimento de Marcos Corsato e Perseu Ribeiro Almeida e deseja uma pronta recuperação a Daniel Sonnewend Proença, que também foi ferido, mas foi levado ao hospital e se encontra em estado estável. Nossos sentimentos aos amigos e familiares das vítimas. A nação santista está com vocês!", diz a nota.
Além de torcedor do Santos, o médico era também irmão da deputada Federal Sâmia Bonfim (PSOL-SP). A polícia, entretanto, trabalha com a hipótese de que os assassinos confundiram Diego com o filho de um miliciano. Além dos três médicos mortos, os atiradores ainda acertaram um quarto homem, mas este está fora de perigo.
